Mid-Rise Residence in Rosedale
Toronto, Ontario
The project is a unique and exclusive development situated in the prestigious Rosedale Valley of Toronto, represents a blend of modesty and refinement in urban residential design. This boutique condominium, with its 26 units, aims to add a harmonious density to one of Toronto's most desirable neighbourhoods. The focus is on creating a design that is both contextually sensitive and complementary to the surrounding area. The architectural plan involves the construction of two interconnected buildings, presenting as a singular structure from the street perspective. These buildings, rising to three and four storeys, showcase a north façade that resonates with the neighbourhood's architectural style, marked by elegant single-family homes. This side of the project incorporates traditional design elements like bay windows, balconies, and a façade of red brick and stone, featuring substantial stone-clad structures reminiscent of chimneys. These elements are strategically integrated to ensure the new development is in harmony with the existing streetscape.

Role: Responsible for managing the project from design to construction
In contrast, the south side of the project adopts a more contemporary approach, characterized by expansive glass-fronted units with private terraces, offering residents stunning views of the natural landscape. This divergence in architectural styles is a key aspect of the services provided, ensuring that the building appeals to a range of aesthetic preferences while remaining respectful of the site's context. The project skillfully marries traditional brick and stone materials with an innovative structural design tailored to the low-rise environment of this affluent area. Architectural features such as brick dividing walls pay homage to the Edwardian homes in the vicinity, breaking up the mass of the buildings and creating a dialogue with the area's historical architecture. The eastern volume of the project is strategically set back from the street to preserve views from adjacent properties, and the use of pale limestone on the fourth level is intended to visually reduce the building's mass. The aim is to blend architectural, landscape, and interior design elements to craft an atmosphere of understated luxury, offering a living experience that balances the spaciousness of a detached home with the communal amenities and panoramic views typical of a high-end condominium.
